Manchester United 4-2 Stoke City: Premier League Highlights

Wayne Rooney scored at either end as Manchester United romped home to a 4-2 victory coming off the back of the October international break against Stoke City. Following a dangerous corner, Rooney found himself in no option but to head the ball into his own net from underneath his own crossbar. However, Rooney equalised for the Red Devils a mere sixteen minutes later, heading home from a Robin van Persie cross. The home side would take a 2-1 lead into the second half as 24 million pound signing Robin van Persie turned from provider into goalscorer just a minute from time. Welbeck would net only 52 seconds into the second half before Michael Kightly kept the game interesting for the travelling supporters shortly before the hour. Wayne Rooney would have the final say in the contest, netting United’s fourth goal on 65 minutes. Michael Owen played a cameo role for Stoke City despite being ineffective compared to Peter Crouch’s early exploits in the contest which had an already shaky United defence flimsier. The slender England forward was winning every header and 50/50 in the air as Stoke caused the hosts problems and inevitably netted the opener.Wayne Rooney scored a double and an own goal as Manchester United registered a come-from-behind 4-2 victory over Stoke City at Old Trafford. The visitors took the lead when the England international nodded the ball into his own net from a Charlie Adam free-kick. But United rallied and Rooney was on hand to get them back into the game with a thumping header.
