Andy Murray beats Roger Federer in Shanghai Masters semi-final
Top seed, Roger Federer of Switzerland, moved a step closer to his record 22nd ATP World Tour Masters 1000 title by defeating the 10th seed from Croatia, Marin Cilic, in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 in the quarter-finals of the Shanghai Rolex Masters.
The Swiss Maestro, who needed an hour and 21 minutes to claim victory, is currently tied with Rafael Nadal on 21 Masters Series crowns. With this 871st tour level match victory, Federer also moved to the fourth position in the list of players with most overall match wins in the open era.
Talking about the latest match, Federer played attackingly throughout. The Swiss Maestro struck in the opening game and held his next serve to attain a 2-0 lead. Cilic fought back to claim a couple of games in a row, levelling the proceedings at 2-2.
