Everton 0-2 Liverpool: Premier League Highlights (Video)

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez was the villain in the eyes of Everton fans after he was involved in the sending-off of Jack Rodwell before scoring the second goal in a controversial 216th Merseyside derby.

The Uruguay international was berated as a cheat by the majority of Goodison Park - and appeared to have a coin thrown at him - after making the most of Rodwell's sliding tackle midway through the first half.

He also won a penalty - which Dirk Kuyt missed - to add to his growing reputation as Mr Unpopular with the Blue half of Merseyside.Goals from Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez broke Everton’s resistance after the home side were left to battle Liverpool with ten men from the 23rd minute onwards.Jack Rodwell gets sent off and Dirk Kuyt misses a penalty as Liverpool beat Everton 2-0 in Saturday afternoon’s early kick off at Goodison Park.Rodwell was sent off by referee Martin Atkinson - who has shown 15 red cards since the start of last season - after 23 minutes for what appeared to be a legitimate challenge on Suarez.

The hosts survived when goalkeeper Tim Howard saved Dirk Kuyt's penalty late in the first half after Phil Jagielka felled Suarez.
