African painted dogs kill young boy at Pittsburgh Zoo

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette quoted Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium president Barbara Baker as saying the child, aged about three years old, was with his mother and friends when he fell about 4.5 metres off a deck - and over railing and a mesh barrier - into an exhibit of African painted dogs. When the boy fell, visitors immediately told staff members, who responded along with Pittsburgh police. Zookeepers called off the dogs, and seven of them immediately went to a back building. Three more eventually were drawn away from the boy, but the last dog wouldn't come into the building, and police had to shoot him,.A 2-year-old boy was mauled to death after he fell into the African painted dog exhibit at the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium, today, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Pittsburgh Police Lt. Kevin Kraus said the boy's mother had placed the child on top of a wooden railing overlooking the enclosure. The child fell off the wooden railing and off of a mesh barrier where the painted dogs were on display. Lt. Kraus said: "Almost immediately after that he lost his balance, fell down off the railing into the actual pit and he was immediately attacked by 11 dogs."The incident occurred at 11:48 a.m. at the Highland Park complex, according to an emergency dispatch supervisor. The zoo was shut down within a half-hour of the incident and will remain closed indefinitely.A group of African painted dogs killed a boy who fell into their exhibit today at the Pittsburgh Zoo. Barbara Baker, the zoo's president, said the child was around 3 years old. He "fell off an observation deck that's about 14 feet above the exhibit," she said, "and was killed by the dogs." "Our emergency teams and our Pittsburgh police responded immediately, but there wasn’t anything that could be done," added Baker.

The 46th Annual Country Music Association Awards was the usual blend of all-star concert event, glitzy red carpet affair and tight-knit family potluck. Suicide Silence: Death of vocalist Mitch Lucker 'devastating'

There’s sad news to report as Suicide Silence frontman Mitch Lucker has died at the age of 28 after a late night motorcycle accident in Huntington Beach, Calif. The Press-Enterprise reports that Lucker passed away Thursday morning (Nov. 1) following the accident. The Orange County coroner’s office said the musician was pronounced dead at 6:17AM PT at the UCI Medical Center in Orange County, Calif. Huntington Beach police were investigating the crash Thursday morning and expected to release details once their investigation was complete. Lucker, a native of Riverside, Calif., formed Suicide Silence with his friends in 2002. The group released their debut disc, ‘The Cleansing’ in 2007 and followed that by the well-received discs ‘No Time to Bleed’ and ‘The Black Crown.’ During his tenure, Lucker and his bandmates won Revolver Gold Gods Awards for Most Innovative Band and Best New Band.Mitch Lucker, the tattooed frontman for the American metal band Suicide Silence, has died after being involved in a motorcycle crash in California on Wednesday evening, according to reports. South Carolina's Marcus Lattimore injures his right leg

South Carolina star Marcus Lattimore was taken to a hospital and is out indefinitely because of an injury to his right knee suffered against Tennessee on Saturday.Lattimore was running through the left side when he was struck around the knees by Volunteers defensive back Eric Gordon, Lattimore's right leg whipping around and slamming against the turf. South Carolina trainers immediately rushed to his side, keeping Lattimore flat on his back as the junior attempted to sit up and see the injury. "I just tried to tell him to stay mentally strong," said receiver Ace Sanders, whose eyes teared up when discussing Lattimore. "I saw the look in in his eyes when he was on the ground and he was really heartbroken." the video above shows a gruesome injury. You may not want to watch if you are squeamish.**) The entire college football world will be praying for Marcus Lattimore. The South Carolina running back, who tore an ACL last year and battled all the way back, suffered an injury that looked as ugly as any we've ever seen. Lattimore, considered one of if not the top running back for next year's NFL Draft had he decided to come out a year early, was running to his left. Tennessee defensive back Eric Gordon tackled him low, and Lattimore's leg collapsed. When he went down, replays showed what clearly looked like a dislocation in his leg. It was a terrible injury that will be remembered alongside Joe Theismann, Napoleon McCallum, Tyrone Prothro and many other grisly injuries that serve as a reminder how violent football can be.

Looks like Lil Wayne doesn't have many worries. Reports that the Young Money boss suffered a seizure-like medical scare on his private jet were a tad overblown. Weezy is doing just fine. "Lil Wayne was successfully released from the hospital after being treated for a severe migraine and dehydration," his rep said in a statement to MTV News. "He is at home on doctor-mandated rest and will return to work soon. He appreciates all of his fans for their support and love." A rep for the rapper had no comment about the incident. As of press time, further information about his condition was not released and it's unclear what the rapper was being treated for. However, sources close to the MC tell TMZ that he is now "doing better."Lil Wayne was successfully released from the hospital after being treated for a severe migraine and dehydration. He is at home on doctor mandated rest and will return to work soon. He appreciates all of his fans for their support and love," Weezy's management said via press statement. Rapper Lil Wayne suffered another mid-air health scare – one that that forced his plane to make a second emergency landing in as many days, TMZ reported. Lil Wayne isn't having his best day, but MTV News has been assured that the multiplatinum rap star is on the road to recovery despite reports that he suffered two seizures in as many days. Kronk Gym boxing icon Emanuel Steward died today, his sister, Diane Steward-Jones, told the Free Press.With a twinkle in his eyes, a smile on his face and a soothing voice, Steward developed unique bonds in and out of the ring with a long line of champions that included Thomas Hearns, Lennox Lewis,Steward, who also managed many of the fighters he trained, worked with more than two dozen champions during his decades-long career. A younger generation of boxing fans knew him as an expert analyst on HBO's boxing telecasts.Steward-Jones, who handled business and public relations for Steward, told the Detroit Free Press she and several family members were by his side. "He has passed – he's gone home," Steward-Jones told the Free Press by phone. "He was in no pain, and we sang to him, as well as did the doctors present. He had loved ones around him." Promoter Frank Maloney, who managed former world heavyweight champion Lewis, said Steward was unique in style. "He was quite a character," he told BBC Radio 5 live. ROSWELL, N.M. -- Plans for extreme athlete and skydiver Felix Baumgartner to make a death-defying, 23-mile free fall into the southeastern New Mexico desert were on hold Tuesday morning due to winds, but his team was still hoping the weather would clear after sunrise in time to make the jump. The 43-year-old former military parachutist from Austria planned to take off in a 55-story, ultra-thin and easy-to-tear helium balloon that would take him into the stratosphere for a jump that he hopes will make him the first skydiver to break the sound barrier and shatter three other world records. Mission meteorologist Don Day said winds on the ground were an ideal 1 to 2 mph, but were 20 mph at the balloon-top level of 700 feet. "We need 3 mph or less at 800 feet," Day said, putting the chance of a launch Tuesday at "50-50. When the sun comes up we will know a lot more. We are very, very close today." Weather conditions have delayed the launch, but lift off is still expected today in the mission to have a man skydive from the Stratosphere (36km), the highest ever freefall. As part of Red Bull’s Stratos mission to the edge of space, Felix Baumgartner will ascend for three hours in a stratospheric balloon to 120,000 ft or around 36.58km. He will make a freefall jump to the earth, reaching supersonic speeds. The challenge for a developer creating a role-playing game is to build a bond with the player, the kind of bond where the player as protagonist not only believes in the mission of his alter ego, but cares about the characters in the game on an emotional level. The story is the essence of any good RPG, and the developer must allow the player to feel the character's anger, frustration, joy or any of the myriad emotions through that story. A great RPG builds a trust with the player and demands that role-playing be the game. And for that reason, Arkane Studios' Dishonored is a great RPG. My emotions drove my style of game play as the bodyguard Corvo, falsely accused of killing a beloved Empress and my friend. I started with the mindset that clearing my name was secondary to finding those that killed her and kidnapped her daughter, the future monarch that I had watched grow up in my time as their bodyguard. I began play in a non-lethal fashion, fully unaware that what I was about to experience went well beyond the traditional point-and-click RPGs.The citizens of Dunwall - home to the events of Dishonored - are subject to terrible restrictions on their personal freedom. There's a compulsory dusk-'till-dawn curfew for starters, which is vigorously applied by the city's guards. At sundown, doors and windows are bolted shut by industrial-sized clamps, and anyone who does somehow manage to wiggle past them is shot on sight. Things don't get much better come the break of dawn. Electrified 'Wall of Light' barriers have been erected around Dunwall to control people-flow and to quarantine poverty-stricken areas from their affluent neighbours. Anyone who stumbles into the barriers is vapourised.Dunwall's civil liberties have been curtailed in an attempt to contain a devastating rat plague that has derailed the once-charming maritime city's recent industrial expansion and left half the population dead. The city's survivors - largely members of the aristocracy who can afford the immunity elixir - cling desperately to a vestige of respectability, but that's all it is - a veneer. Dishonored's world is a grim one of routine, oppression and restriction. Except for you, of course. In Dunwall, you can do anything you please.
