Ron Paul Supporter Uncovers Iowa Vote Discrepancy

Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum received 34 votes more than former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in this month's Iowa caucuses, state Republican officials reported Thursday.

The party officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the Des Moines Register that the final caucus count would remain unresolved because the results from eight precincts were mislaid and will never be certified. Any of those missing results could hold an advantage for Romney. Scott Christopherson banked in a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give Iowa State a 71-68 victory over Oklahoma State on Wednesday night.

Oklahoma State had a chance for the final shot with the score tied at 68, but Iowa State's Tryus McGee knocked the ball off Markel Brown's leg, and it rolled out of bounds with 4.8 seconds left, giving the Cyclones possession.

Iowa State (13-5, 3-2 Big 12) inbounded to Christopherson, who dribbled up the floor, stopped 2 feet from the 3-point line and launched his game winner over 5-foot-8 Keiton Page. Christopherson jumped up onto the scorers table to salute the crowd, and after a video review by the officials, the basket stood.

Christopherson, Royce White and McGee scored 17 points each to lead the Cyclones, who trailed 66-60 with less than three minutes to play. Christopherson hit a 3-pointer and driving layup to cut the lead to one, and after Page sank two free throws, McGee nailed a 3 to tie it at 68 with 16.8 seconds remaining.President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, both plan to visit Iowa soon.

The president plans to visit the Cedar Rapids area next Wednesday, a White House official confirmed. Michelle Obama’s staff said she plans to visit Des Moines Feb. 9 to promote her child fitness initiative.

The Republican Party ripped the president’s planned trip, but Iowa’s Republican governor plans to appear onstage with the first lady.

The president’s visit is to be part of a three-day, five-state tour following his State of the Union address to Congress on Tuesday evening. He also plans to stop in Arizona, Nevada, Colorado and Michigan.
