The self-styled 'independent trader' also claimed he had been 'dreaming of this moment for three years', as the global economy faces continuing uncertainty.
However sceptics took to Twitter today to claim Mr Rastani was merely impersonating a city trader and was even a member of political hoaxers the Yes Men.
One user said: 'It doesn't matter if it was Alessio Rastani or The Yes Men. What he said reflects how traders really think.'

Travis Bickel got in there pretty quick and got some payback on "Sport" Sestito. Sestito was moving at a fair clip prior to the hit. Sestito had plenty of time to pull up on that hit. Deveaux did well to just get up after that hit.
Avery vs the Tape Worm of Death would be a good fight. Walker vs Avery would be better, however. It's funny that Avery was on the right side of something like this. It would have been ironic if he got his clock cleaned come to the aid of a teammate that got a cheap shot.

Wangari Maathai, the first African woman recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, died after a long struggle with cancer at age 71, the environmental organization she founded said Monday.
One of Kenya's most recognizable women, Maathai won the Nobel in 2004 for combining environmentalism and social activism. We head into the third round of UFC 135's main event, Jon "Bones" Jones vs. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson for the UFC light heavyweight championship. After ten minutes, Jones is in complete control of the fight. The referee is charge of the action is Josh Rosenthal.

ROUND 3 - "Rampage" opens with a leg kick before lunging in and missing with a combination. He follows with another leg kick and seems to be finding his rhythm. Jones answers with an inside leg kick of his own before taking "Rampage" down and landing in side control. "Bones" immediately transitions to full mount. The champion begins to rain down elbows but, sensing danger, Jackson hip escapes and manages to scramble to his feet. "Rampage" is bleeding from above his right eye. Jones connects with a left hook that stumbles Jackson backwards. "Rampage" responds with a lunging right hand that misses wildly. Jones launches into a massive flying knee that almost lands flush. Jackson backs away but eats a high kick. Jones' hands are down as he connects with a stiff jab. The horn sounds as "Bones" jumps to the ground and lifts "Rampage" up in the air.

Jones paws a pair of jabs out before missing a head kick. Jackson leaps forward with a right hand but Jones slips it and backs away. "Rampage" seems tentative as Jones continues to guage the distance with his jab. Jones takes the fight to the ground and grasps for a triangle as the horn sounds.

Todd Fedoruk (Vancouver Canucks) vs. Darcy HoDarcy Hordichuk was in mid-season agitating form.
The Edmonton Oilers forward was so deep in the Vancouver Canucks kitchen on Thursday, he could have cooked dinner.
It’s what the Oilers envisioned out of the enforcer when signing him as a free agent this summer and through the first two games of the exhibition season, Hordichuk is delivering.
“I’m just trying to go out there, do my job, finish checks and just show the organization I can do more than just fight and can be affective on the forecheck,” said Hordichuk. “They haven’t gone as far as saying that I have to fight, that’s just part of who I am.”
Hordichuk has fought three times in his first two games as an Oiler.
Against the Canucks, it took all of 52 seconds to drop the mitts against Todd Fedoruk, who is on a tryout with Vancouver.
The two went at it again in the third period.

Nigeria Gang Rape Video Sparks Outrage
A video showing a Nigerian woman being repeatedly raped in her college dormitory in Nigeria has sparked cries of outrage in the country. While local authorities dismissed the 10-minute video, which circulated around the campus of Abia State University before it was leaked on the Internet, human rights activists are up in arms over the incident and Nigeria’s youth minister has called on police to prosecute the assailants. Several Internet users are offering rewards for information about the perpetrators, who take turns raping the woman and laugh as she pleads, “Please just kill me.” Activists said the video uncovers a largely unreported epidemic of rape in the nation. The fact that the assailants recorded and circulated the rape “shows… that they’re daring society to take action on it,” said Josephine Effah-Chukwuma, In the grainy video, a Nigerian woman repeatedly asks her attackers to kill her as they take turns raping her at a university dormitory. The five men only promise to drive her home, pushing her back down each time she starts to stand up.

Troy Davis executed, protests innocence to the end
A Georgia man has been executed, 20 years after he was convicted of the fatal shooting of a police officer and despite a plea for clemency from almost a million people worldwide.
Troy Davis, 42, who had continued to maintain his innocence, died by lethal injection shortly after 1pm today (AEST) after desperate efforts by his defence team failed to win a stay. He died at 11.08am, Georgia time.

Flyer Fights: Jody Shelley Battles Jay Rosehill
It didn't take Jody Shelley long to notch his first dance of the 2011-2012 campaign, as he dropped the gloves with Jay Rosehill of the Toronto Maple Leafs in his first preseason game. Shugart said it was fitting the globe's biggest beauty pageant be held in Brazil at this time, as the nation prepares to host some major events in the coming years.
"I don't think there is any doubt in the rest of the world's mind that Brazil is the place, between hosting the Olympics and hosting the World Cup," she said. "I love the fact we're going to kick it off. I always say we're the 'World Cup' of beauty."

Quick to the line and never relenting, they had the Dolphins on their heels on a historic night for quarterback Tom Brady, who threw for a franchise-record 517 yards, the fifth-best mark in NFL history.
After the Monday night assault, the reigning NFL Most Valuable Player deflected mention of his record output, focusing more on the team aspect of the win, as he often does. Yet he was more willing to touch on the rapid-fire approach that sparked the lethal effort.

Serena Williams's ugly US Open meltdown threatened to overshadow Sam Stosur's brilliantly composed straight-sets win as the Australian celebrated her first grand-slam victory in New York today.
Chair umpire Eva Asdaraki penalised the three-time US Open champion under the intentional-hindrance rule, prompting an angry response from the American.
"Aren't you the one who screwed me over last time?," said Williams, apparently confusing Ms Asdaraki with another umpire. "That is totally not cool."

Santa Cruz's Luke Rockhold Fights for the MMA Middleweight Championship Belt
He has been training in martial arts from the age of 6 and now the 185-pound MMA fighter is up for the Middleweight Championship Belt in a nationally-televised fight.Luke was training in Judo at the age of 6. By the time he was in seventh grade he was on the school wrestling team and all through high school Luke remained on the wrestling team and trained in Jiu Jitsu.
Jiu Jitsu became his passion as continued to train under Dave Camarillo and he won a handful of Jiu Jitsu events. As Luke progressed he began to train at AKA (American Kickboxing Academy) it was at this MMA training facility where Rockhold would establish himself.
Luke Rockhold became the new Strikeforce middleweight champ with a tight decision win over Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza at Strikeforce on Saturday night. In a bout that saw Rockhold outstrike Souza 145-63, the judges saw the fight 50-45, 48-47 for Rockhold.
Souza took Rockhold down early in the first round, but then had trouble maneuvering him. Rockhold worked to his knees, where was able to land punches, then get to his feet. Jacare took him right back down, but they worked back up again, and Rockhold was able to break free. Jacare took advantage, and stalked Rockhold down with kicks. Rockhold responded with a dazzling array of strikes, including three straight punches as Souza held Rockhold's leg.

Three rounds are in the books for the main event of UFC 135 -- a light heavyweight championship bout between Jon "Bones" Jones and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. This is the first time Jones has ventured into the championship rounds, though he has dominated the fight thus far. The referee overseeing the action is Josh Rosenthal.
